The following are recaps of today's racing action in the United Arab Emirates

Godolphin Mile-

H E Sheikh Rashid's new purchase Grand Emporium came through for his new connections with a smart win in the $1,000,000 UAE-II Godolphin Mile over Godolphin's Qais, who made a good run at the winner to finish second. The American Tsigane made all the pace and continued on bravely for third.

UAE Derby-

Blues and Royals and pilot Kerrin McEvoy obliterated the field in the UAE-III UAE Derby for three-year olds. Running second string the the much-hyped Shamardal, Blues and Royals took over the running at the top of the lane and did not look back. The aformentioned Shamardal ran in contention until the top of the long Nad Al Sheba straight yet stopped badly in the stretch and wound up last. Bobby Frankel's Marenostrum took the place spot with Parole Board running third.

Dubai Sheema Classic-

International star Phoenix Reach (IRE) and Martin Dwyer blew away their competitors in the UAE-I Dubai Sheema Classic at twelve furlongs. The Andrew Balding trained runner collared Godolphin's Razkalla, who tried to steal the race on the lead. Alan Swinbank's Collier Hill finished third. Aiden O'Brien's Powerscourt and Ken McPeek's Prince Arch finished in midpack.

Dubai Golden Shaheen-

Saratoga County and Javier Castellano spoiled Pico Central's party in the $2,000,000 UAE-II Dubai Golden Shaheen. Never far off the lead, Saratoga County moved in on My Cousin Matt and Pico Central racing to his inside when he made his move to the lead. An objection was filed by Pico Central's jockey, Alex Solis, but the results were not changed. Dubai local Tropical Star was second with Godolphin's Botanical picking up the third place check. American campaigns are planned for the place and show horses.

Dubai Duty Free-

Australian Elvstroem and Doug O'Neill's Whilly put on a show of race dictatorship in the UAE-II Dubai Duty Free over nine furlongs. "Elvis" and rider Nash Rawiller controlled the speed the entire trip while Whilly was his shadow the whole way around. Right Approach, who finished in a dead-heat for first with Paolini in this race last year, came on late for third.

Dubai World Cup-

Heavily favored Roses in May won as his 6/5 odds suggested he would. Taking control of the race about five furlongs into the running, the Dale Romans trained five-year old repelled the challenge of compatriot Choctaw Nation and scored a decisive win in the world's richest race. Christophe Clement's Dynever, making his final career start, came on well to be second. Rider John Velazquez scored his first win in the race. The $3.3 million winner's cut rockets Roses in May's career earnings above the $5 million mark.
