From the Mid West to the Northeast, many major tracks closed due to big snowstorm. Many racing fans left out in the cold ! Unless you were in California, where a heat wave put fans in air conditioning, and short pants.

Winter is back with a fury ! The snow has returned along with it, and for those of us who grew up in the Northeast, it reminds us of our youth. How many times have you heard or read about 'Global Warming' ? The idea that green house gases are building up in the atmosphere and trapping carbon dioxide which in turn is helping to heat up the earth each year.
Just ask people living anywhere in between Chicago, and New York, and as far south as Pennsylvania and Virginia if they are worried about Global Warming. Even as far south as Florida, temperatures took traditionally cold turns for this time of year. Overnight temperatures in many Southern States, like Louisiana and Florida dipped below freezing.
The cold weather and heavy snow caused a large number of cancellations around the country.
Track List of Winter Cancellations :

Fair Grounds, Oaklawn, Tampa Bay Downs, and All West Coast tracks were open during the weekend. However, the simulcast wagering showed significant drops in handle due to the many closing back east of tracks and simulcasts locations.
We look for All Racing tracks to be open starting Wednesday 1/26.
The Stick Horse Racing and all our many fans look forward to the return of warmer weather in the Northern regions of our country. If your trapped in one of those snowed in states, we hope you can get out and about soon !
Speaking of warmer climates....did anyone outside of California notice how hot it was at Santa Anita this weekend ? Temperatures, more akin to South Florida, in the Southern California area reached into the high 80's and low 90's ! Many fans wrote in telling us they were sweltering under the hot California sun. Poor babies...
Best Racing Everyone....MC
