Curlin looks to have an improved post position in a smaller field on a speed favoring race track. In addition, It looks like Fyling First Class has been entered as a "RABBIT" by D.Wayne Lukas for his old assistant Todd Pletchers horses to benefit. With the speed duel in front of him, Curlin looks to make the first move for the lead at the top of the stretch and be clear when Street Sense and Cicular Quay make their moves. The experience he learned in the Derby and his 3rd place finish show that with the right trip, he can Win Big against this level. Expect decent odds of 3-1 or better.

Cicular Quay should rebound nicely from his terrible Derby Trip. With a big late run on the outside, Quay can be moving at the right time to win or be second and should benefit greatly from this smaller field. No way Street Sense gets that dream run up the rail like he did in the Derby.

Street Sense is this years Kentucky Derby winner, and it would not be hard not to say we want to see a Triple Crown Winner. However, so many things went right for Sense on Derby day that its hard to see those same factors coming together for him again. The open rail for him to move from last to second was not ever seen in a Derby before. The clear shot he had to pull out from second and get open ground to run in was also rather unusual. Its not likely that the same favorable conditions that existed for him at Churchill Downs will exist at Pimlico. However, he is still a solid race horse and should finish in the top 3 or 4 positions today.

Hard Spun will be the local favorite with Mario Pino riding. This horse ran his best race in the Kentucky Derby and came up second best to Street Sense. However, he did that on an uncontested lead. Going into the far turn and heading for home, Hard Spun had clear sailing and was still very strong. The problem today is that D.Wayne Lukas put a speed horse in the race named Flying First Class. There is no chance Hard Soun will get a clear lead in this race. In fact he will probably be head to head with Flying First Class. The result....a Speed Duel which will prevent Hard Spun from winning.

King of the Roxy is a very interesting horse. This one skipped the Ky Derby and was rested and freshened for this race. King of the Roxy is another Todd Pletcher trained horse. He ran well in the SA Derby, coming in second to Tiago. If he puts that effort back in here, he may hit the Triple or Superfecta and be a price.

Betting Strategy : BOX BOX BOX. Make sure your Triple and Superfecta tickets are boxed wagers. W-P on Curlin for your acceptable amounts. Wheel and Key these horses in Pick 3,4,6 and other exotic wagers. Good Luck !
