FULL COMMENTS :Imperial Gesture has really come alive in her last two races/ Wire to wire against the likes of Take Charge Lady, Summer Colony, and Mandy's Gold. Expect Jerry Bailey to go to the lead and never look back. Gesture showed talent last year coming in 2nd in the juv.fil at Belmont. Smaller turns, no problem at the distance, catch her if you can !

Summer Colony was very strong over the Summer. She won at Pimlico, Delaware and Saratoga. She simply bounced in her last race, the Beldame that was won by the top choice. Look for John Velasquez to rate and let the speed come back to him, Colony will run a sharp race, probably middle moving through the stretch for a top 3 finish. Hennig and Velasquez are a hot team, and Colony has carried weight before. A possible upset in here, but certainly in the top 3.

Mandy's Gold really shocked everyone in the Ruffian at Belmont. After appearing to be a pure speed horse and sprinter, she showed she can rate off the speed and close at a 1 1/16. Jose Santos is hot this year, and he always rides well for a big purse. While she looks short again at a 1 1/8 mile, a well timed ride can land her in the money and your exotics at a price. Of note, Mandy won sprint races at Arlington earlier this year.

Farda Amiga has to be the cinderella at this ball. A virtual unknown turf specialist from the west coast, Farda showed up in the SA Oaks at 35-1. After a decent 4th place finish, she was sent off at 20-1 in the KY Oaks. Well, she won closing strongly with Chris McCarron. Then Farda was sent to NY for the Alabama at Saratoga, which she won handily with a big late rush under Pat Day. Should the speed go too fast, or should the track favor closers, she has a strong chance, however, you have to expect her to be late into the stretch, and beating You at a 1 1/4 Mile is taking candy from a baby.

Azeri looks to be hopelessly overbet. Trainer Laura DeSeroux has been winning everything in California, but Arlington Park is in Illinois. There is nothing wrong with Azeri, but her running style makes it highly unlikely she will be able to get a clear lead. Starrer is nothing much to defeat, and Affluent was always 2nd best to her. Azeri is possible, but we think she will take all the betting money and come up in the middle of the pack without the ability to middle move through. Once she fails to get the lead, its over. Even if she duels Imperial Gesture to defeat, there is no way she would be able to hold on against the others closing.

WAGER STRATEGY :
Our Strategy here is to nail down a BIG WIN right off the bat. BOX the First 4 horses in the Triple. For $1, its a $24 ticket. Play W-P-S on Imperial Gesture, especially at odds of 4-1 or better. Also Play Exacta's with the Top 3 Boxed. Lets take home some Good Money right away !

FULL COMMENTS :
Storm flag flying looks like the next Personal ensign. Undefeated in 3 starts, Flying middle moves nicely and should be able to relax and let other horses speed duel into the turn. When John Velasquez wants to make his move, the stretch is all his. While you have to take low odds on this one, she still looks very solid, and Shug McGaughey is well known in NY and KY for stakes horses. Distance should be no problem for Storm flag flying, easy winner today.

Westerly Breeze really came to life in her last start, the G2 Walmac at Keeneland. In a demanding slop she dug in gamely to hold on for a gutty win at a 1 1/16 Mile. Carl Nafzger is a very capable KY trainer, and we respect him. Robbie Albarado a top jockey, not well known outside the mid west, but can really ride out a horse strongly. Look for Breeze to try and get the lead down the backstretch.

Santa Catarina is the Bob Baffert hope, and she was right there in the Frizette, coming in 2nd to Storm flag flying. Distance is a question for her, but a well timed ride and the right move by Bailey could bring her closer then this ranking. She has only won 1 race lifetime and it was a MDN race. Caution indicated on her.

Composure is the other Baffert horse, and she closes very strongly with good middle move power. This is another California only type, who has never proven herself outside CA. She is either right there, or she fades out in the stretch. Tough call on this one, to many people she is the better Baffert horse, but not to us.

Ruby's Reception is another closer who may or may not be able to catch the speed. If they go too fast, she has an outside shot to get up into the picture. IF they are moderate, or if the speed is passed by other closers first, she has no chance.

WAGER STRATEGY :
Storm Flag Flying looks very strong for a W-P play at low odds. To make the Tri and Super worthwhile, we need to maximize the combinations underneath her. Key Storm Flag on Top in Tri and Super plays with the other 3 or 4 horses and make a save Tri Box of the top three or four also for protection in case she does not run her race. Look at it this way, with her out, the Tri's will be very nice, with her in, its only value is to have her on top and keyed.

FULL COMMENTS :
Good Journey has done everything asked of him. The connections moved him up slowly, and he has won his last 4 races all on the turf. The last 3 races were at a mile on the turf. Journey caught Morluc at a mile in the Firecracker, then beat a few in here in the Atto Mile with a wicked close into a fast time. This race sets up exactly the same way. There will be a lot of speed horses going out, and Journey with Pat Day will simply bide their time, and make their move into the stretch. 8-1 morning line, fantastic, lets take 10-1 for the race and cash !

Forbidden Apple has that incredible Santos/Clement connection from NY. These guys love to turf together, and Apple is a wonderful grass horse. At age 7, he has won $1.5 Mil+, and still going strong. They have changed the distance on him, and Jose has been moving too soon for the lead. However, a well timed ride and this one is home baby. The Apple can do and might upset at very juicy odds of 15-1 and Corey Nakatani up. Throw out his distance races, and focus on the Mile races and you have a BIG factor here for exotics.

Rock of Gibralter is a true Euro Turf Miler and we all know how strong they have been in Breeders Cup races in the past. The major G1 race, the Sussex was all his, and a time of 1:38 1 at Goodwood's country course is equal to a 1:33 flat here on our ovals. Aidan O'Brien the king of Irish racing trains, and Mick Kinane comes in for the mount. This one is also very live in here, must be respected, but not embraced at 1-1 odds.

Domedriver is another Euro Miler who was running against the best of French racing. The Jacques Marios is the key race, a mile in 1:35 flat and many other champions in the race. Domedriver is actually losing weight from his last few races. 126 will be light for him, and his regular rider Thulliez comes in for the ride. Trainer better known in France then here, but capable and will have his mount ready.

Beat Hollow does not belong in the mile. Everyone was so shocked when he lost at Keeneland, why ? His best races were at 1 1/8 mile and he won the Arlington Million at 1 1/4 Mile. Why would his connections want him to sprint on the turf at a mile ? Beat Hollow looks to lose in exactly the same way he did at Keeneland, and this time he will again be at low odds. While he might make the exotics, we do not like him at this distance. Not even Jerry Bailey can make his horse go wire to wire at the wrong distance. We love the horse, but feel he would have done much better in the 1 1/2 Mile Turf, and they settled for this race because they thought he could not get the distance.

WAGER STRATEGY :
This is a very contentious race and is very very wide open. Those late runs and different styles clashing open up many possible results. We Recommend BOXING your exotics in here. In fact, make a $1 Tri box with all of them for $60, and you might catch a huge tri payoff. Good Journey or Forbidden Apple W-P will set up nice payoffs if they come in. Rock and Beat will be very much overbet and should only be used as Tri and Super Fillers to protect your investment.

FULL COMMENTS :
Orientate is D.Wayne Lukas(The King of the Breeders Cup Trainers) only solid hope today. A winner of his last 4 races at the distance and Jerry Bailey. Expect Jerry to let the fillies go and hammer home on their outside through the stretch. In the Forego, Orientate was all class, 6F in 1:09 blowing out to 1:15 3/5 for 6 1/2, WOW ! In fact, for your die hard Stick Fans, some hidden info, Orientate is UNDEFEATED at 6 Furlongs ! This one is set to fly home and catch the girls and boys late drawing off. A solid play for the Sprint.

Carson Hollow is our pick of the best of the girls. Xtra Heat will never clear a lead, and she will face immediate pressure if she does. Carson Hollow is used to being pressured and she keeps running. The 2 key races for her are the Prioress, which she won in a time of 1:08 3/5, and the Test at 7F which she lost after being pressured all the way by You, who was running at her best distance. Carson Hollow gets a weight break in against the boys and will have 6 pounds less. Expect John Velasquez to send her and send her hard. Catch Carson Hollow if you can will be her race, and she looks to be fastest of the girls in the race or the boys for that matter going into the far turn.

Bonapaw is the Timex watch of this race, he keeps going and going and going. 6F, 7F, a Mile, whatever, Bonapaw just keeps running till he gets across the line first. More of a middle mover the na pure front runner, he should be coming on powerfully in the stretch also. Winner of his last 3 and coming into his own this year, Bonapaw looks like he has an upset chance in here. He should be used in Exotics. Gerard Melancon a capable rider, not known outside of Louisiana, can get the job done and will have him running right at the finish.

Swept Overboard is the only true closer with Alderbaran going in the mile for some odd reason. Overboard gets Corey Nakatani, who has won this race 2 years in a row for Jenine Sahadi. Swept Overboards only chance is if they run too fast up front and collapse on the lead. If he can catch a :21 quarter and a :43 half, he has a shot to close into this race. His power move in the Met Mile was impressive and he had the lead at the top of the stretch or the 6F mark in a Mile race. Picks up weight which is a concern and was unable to close in California this year, while doing it last year. Needs a lot of factors to help him find the money.

Crafty CT is a nice sprinter, but one of those California only based horses. Not happy with those CLMG $80K wins, but his loss in the Ancient Title against Kallokan Queen was his best race ever. Final time of that race 1:08 1/5, very nice. Not happy with the 10 pounds he gets in here also. However, one must make note that a Clean and Sober Pat Valenzuela won more B.Cup races in the first few years then any other jockey, and he is back in Master Class form. If CT can win, Pat Val will make it happen. A longshot chance, but not out of it.

WAGER STRATEGY :
Orientate is a Wheel Horse in Pick 3's, and a Single shot in Pick Six use. W-P x2 is indicated. Orientate will not lose unless he falls down or stumbles. This is our best play up to this race. Box him in Exacta's with Carson Hollow and with Bonapaw. Also BOX the Triple of the first 3 x 2. Then Key Orientate on Top of the next 4 in a Superfecta for a nice price.
