The world of Poker has exploded into a huge success. Quite often, people ask themselves ... 'How do I get into those tournaments ?' Most Tournaments that are held at well known Casino venue's around the USA, have a very high entry fee if you want to BUY your way in. The fee's can be anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000 and up. Most people cannot afford that high an entry fee. However, there are OTHER ways of being entered into these high priced tournaments. The Satellite Tournament
Many on line sites, including our friends at Bodog and Full Tilt, offer on line play in so called 'satellite tournaments'. These mini tournaments have very low entry fee's that are affordable to almost anyone. If you can qualify, or defeat the other players in the mini, or satellite tournament, you then advance to a Super Satellite. This Super Satellite can also be bought into normally with a buy in of about $500. In most tournaments, the final 9 or 'last table' are all then advanced to an ACTUAL Tournament being held at a In Person Casino. In addition, both FULL Tilt and Bodog have their own on line tournaments which can be played entirely on the internet. FULL Tilt Poker Tournament's ----------------------- The following in quotes comes to us directly from FULL Tilt Poker's staff. "Our tournaments are really starting to take off as the site grows. During the week, we have started holding three guarantee tournaments a day. A $3k guarantee at noon EST, and a $6k guarantee at 8pm and 10pm. All three have a $24+2 buy-in. On Saturdays, we have a $100+9 tournament at 6:00 that will soon have a $20,000 guaranteed prize pool. . On Sundays we have a $200+9 at 5:30 that will have a $40,000 guarantee! Our satellite program gives players a cheap way to get into the bigger tournaments, while practicing along the way. We have $4+.40 satellites which gives the winner a $26 token. This token can be used for the $24+2 guarantee tournaments during the week, or they can be used for a $24+2 satellite into the $200+9 tournament (those satellites also run 24/7, and you can buy-in to those directly with cash). The $100+9 tournament on Saturday has $14+1 satellites for it. We have two types of satellites: Multi-table and single-table. For a single table satellite which runs around the clock, 9 people might each put up $14+1, which creates a prize pool of $126. The winner will receive a $109 entry into that weekend’s tournament, and second place receives the $17 leftover. For a multi-table satellite, one seat to the $100+9 would be awarded for every 8 or so people that register, and any leftover money would pay the next few spots in cash.
