*Breeders Cup 2010 - Churchill Downs - Louisville, KY.

B.Cup Juv Turf - $1,000,000

Pluck flies down the stretch to win drawing off in this exciting finish. The Woodbine invader had all the momentum. His 6-1 odds were great value on a top number horse.

2nd place Soldat ran his race, but could not hold off the winners late charge.

3rd went to Wilcox Inn and Johnny V. who came late but could not catch the first two.

7/2 Favorite, Master of Hounds proved that just because your from across the pond, does not mean you will win on the turf in the B.Cup.

B.Cup Sprint -6 Furlongs - $1,000,000

Big Drama did his best Quarter Horse impression with a blazing :21 2/5 first quarter. Eibar sat pretty as he said catch me if you can, and guess what happened ? No one could catch Big Drama. Winning time 1:09 1/5 ok, but take into account the weather factors at Churchill and you will see this was a top effort.

Hamazing Destiny used the closers track bias to his advantage as he flew up for 2nd at long odds under Joel Rosario. Rosario continues to impress.

Smiling Tiger middle moved and tired, but held 3rd in an impressive race. Any other field, he would have won by 10.

B.Cup Turf Sprint - 5 Furlongs(TURF)- $1,000,000

Chamberlain Bridge and Jaime Theriot made an effective close at this short 5 furlong distance.

Central City ran his race, and really pushed until the wire, only to get caught by the winner.

Unzip Me ran a closers third under Rafeal Bejarano, and if they had run him in the dirt sprint, he might have done it.

B.Cup Juv -1 1/16 Mile - $2,000,000

Uncle Mo and Johnny V ran a solid stalking second before drawing off in the stretch to win by 4 1/2 in a dominating race.

Boys at Toscanova looked to run big at the top of the stretch but was no match for the winner.

Rogue Romance also looked to benefit from the closers bias and was a strong third with Julien Leparoux aboard.

B.Cup Mile- 1 Mile- $2,000,000

Goldikova and Olivier Peslier were the best of the Turf Milers. Unlike the juv turf, this race proved that the best european horses DO Win the Breeders Cup ! Final time of 1:35 1/5 very nice, but nowhere near Lure's time so many years ago.

Gio Ponti proving year after year he has a solid close a solid stamina, and almost won the race with Ramon Dominguez, the bridesmaid of the B.Cup.

The Usual QT had nice closing power to be third at a long 22-1 under Espinoza. Victor showing his skill at bringing this one in so strong.

B.Cup DIRT MILE - 1 Mile - $1,000,000 *PERSONAL SIGNIFICANCE RACE TO STICK FAMILY*

This race had a horse who is owned by TRS Racing Legends Stable, of whom our cousin, Larry Byer is a partner.

Morning Line, who went off at 6-1, was a the best horse ever owned or run by our family, and we were very impressed.

After digging in and pushing through blazing fast fractions, Morning Line emerged the leader through the stretch. We were yelling and jumping for this one to hold on at the Wellington, FL Studios of The Stick. The line was coming, but so was the longest shot on the board.

At the last possible jump, Dakota Phone and Joel Rosario put their nose ahead of our beloved Morning Line to pull an incredible upset that had us all guessing until the photo came up.

Javi rode the best race he could, and successfully put away all the favorites who were breathing down his neck. The late close of Dakota Phone was a combination of the closers bias at Churchill, and the talented training of Jerry hollendorfer. We only wish they had not entered in the race, and we would have been a 5 length winner, instead of a nose second place.

Third place runner, Gayego was a logical in the money runner.

B.Cup Turf - 1 1/2 Mile(TURF) - $3,000,000

Dangerous Midge and Frankie Dettori, shoed us yet again that the Euro runners simplt are stronger horses on the turf then us grass horses.

Champ Pegasus, was on a soft pace throuout, and Joel Roasrio really made the most out of every horse he rode on the day. Pgasus could not hold off the winner, but ran a big race.

Bekhabad and Lemarie, the race favorite, ran an even third all the way through the race in the small field.

B.Cup Classic- 1 1/4 Mile - $5,000,000

This was the big one Stick Fans. Everyone was talking about Zenyatta and her date with history, and her repeat in the Classic.

Would Zenyatta become the legend that everyone wanted her to be. Her shocking closing power in last years Classic and her solid win record against the top level competition brought in an enourmous crowd. Worldwide support of her was evident. "Girl power" chants and t shirts and posters abounded across the enourmous Churchill Doowns crowd.

The race track closers bias appeared to be in Zenyatta's favor. A strong group of male's assembled to attempt to take the $5,000,000 purse from her.

As soon as the horses raced through the stretch the first time, it looked as if Zenyatta was extremely far back, at least 15 lengths off the last horse. Mike Smith obviously felt comfortable to unleash Zenyatta's closing power with a soft gallop early.

As the race developed, First Dude and Quality Road were the early leaders, only to fade back in the pack towards the end.

Paddy o Prado and Espoir City also took shots on or near the lead only to fade also as the race went on.

Looking at Lucky appeared to be well placed and made his run, only to be swallowed up whole by the closing power of three other horses down the lane to the wire.

Zenyatta was moving explosivly from the back of the pack, Blame and Fly down were also making well timed moves under their riders, Garret Gomez and Julien Leparoux.

Zenyatta encountered a severe traffic problem and was racing up the rail. She veered out sharply to find racing room, and this is what cost her the race. Blame, racing down the lane in a clear path took the lead and held her off, barely. The post race comments by Albert Stall, were not based on anything other then his ego. He said, that Blame was waiting for other horse, and that they could have run another eight of a mile and his horse would have held. NO WAY ! Zenyatta was past Blame one jump after the wire, and she would have won if the race had been another inch beyond 1 1/4 mile or if she had a cleaner trip. However, that was not the case and Blame won, under those wonderful Claiborne and Adele Dilschnider colors. If you dont know those colors, check them our to familiarize yourself.

While everyone involved in the Zenyatta crowd was clearly upset, their filly ran an incredible race. She still retires a great champion, and the crowd was excited by a thrilling race. Everyone got home safe, and thats a blessing considering how spooked Zenyatta was by the crowds yells and the flash bulbs. When she started counting and prancing you could see she was scared and its good nothing caused her to bolt or fall.

This years B.Cup was exciting and we enjoyed it. You might ask why we only focused on day 2, and did not mention day 1. The reason being, there's really no need to ever mention the races from day 1. Few if any B.Cup juvinile runners ever come back as champions in their 3 yr old year. The endurance is nothing to get excited about and its lower purse make it less inviting as a B.Cup race and more of a filler race for more divisions. The Filly and Mare races have their own intrigue, but with Zenyatta racing in the Classic, she was the only girl anyone was interested in.

Welcome Back Stick Fans, we love you.
